Does Dynamics 365 work offline?
By Emil Björk · Microsoft business apps consultant, Gothenburg
Partially, and it depends which app. Field Service's mobile app is built offline-first by design. Sales' mobile experience and Power Apps canvas apps support offline modes that need deliberate configuration. Business Central, Customer Service, and most browser-based work assume a live connection — there is no general 'Dynamics 365 offline mode.'
Field Service technicians carry bookings, navigation, asset history, and forms offline as a core design requirement, syncing automatically when connectivity returns — this is the strongest offline story in the portfolio because field workers routinely lose signal.
Sales' mobile app and Power Apps canvas apps can be configured for offline data access, but it's an explicit design and testing effort (which tables sync, how conflicts resolve), not a default. Business Central and the browser-based CRM apps have no meaningful offline mode — they need a live connection to Microsoft's cloud.
If offline access is a hard requirement for a specific workflow, the design question is which app and which specific data needs to be available offline, not whether 'Dynamics 365' as a whole supports it.
