Certifications
The Dynamics 365 and Power Platform exam tree, with the guides on this site that cover each exam's ground. This is not exam-dump material — it's the conceptual understanding the exams assume. Always check the official Microsoft Learn exam page for the current skills outline before booking.
A caution on timing: Microsoft is retiring most of the classic MB/PL portfolio through 2025–2026 in favour of the new AI-focused AB-series exams (AB-900, AB-100, AB-210, AB-410). Retired exams are kept below because the product knowledge they tested is unchanged — the guides remain useful even where the exam code is gone.
Fundamentals
Entry-level exams — broad product knowledge, no implementation depth expected.
Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, and Dataverse at the what-is-it level. The natural first exam for anyone in the Dynamics 365 orbit.

Frequently asked questions
Which Dynamics 365 exams are still current?
- The AB-series (AB-900, AB-100, AB-210, AB-410) is Microsoft's forward direction, with the MB-800 (Business Central Functional Consultant) and a subset of PL exams still current. Most other MB and PL exams are retiring on published dates through 2025-2026. Always confirm on the official Microsoft Learn exam page before booking.
Do I need certifications to work with Dynamics 365?
- No. Certifications are useful for consultants signalling capability to prospective clients or partners meeting Microsoft partner-competency thresholds, but they are not a hiring gate at most customers. Portfolio work and community contributions carry more weight for senior roles.
Do the study pages replace Microsoft Learn?
- No — they complement it. The per-exam study pages map the site's guides to the skills the exam tests, so you can revise the concepts before working through Microsoft Learn's hands-on labs. Microsoft's own material remains the definitive prep.
How current is the certification list?
- The exam list, retirement notes, and skills-outline mappings are reviewed after each Microsoft Learn certification update. Retired exams are kept for reference — the product knowledge they tested is still valid even when the code is gone.
Exam status reflects Microsoft's public retirement announcements as of August 2026. The guide mapping is generated from each guide's own Microsoft Learn references, so it updates as the library grows.
